many times have we heard say that to meditate is to leave the mind blank, or not "think" about anything.
Well, friends, nothing more wrong. That is not possible, at most we can hope for is to leave in the background all this mental activity to be occurring spontaneously and on which we have no control.
we voluntarily put in the foreground what we want, in order to counter any background that mental activity, which we relegate to the unconscious through the maneuver to focus attention on what we propose.
Meditation would come to be the effort with the only motivation to control mental activity "involuntary." Pongo
involuntary
quotes because in some way all mental activity would have a motivational effect based on fears, desires, or issues likely to attract our interest in some type of stimulus.
is why it is not easy to meditate. Other reasons other than meditation, are strong and the mind resists to work with a less than desired stimulus.
's why it's important to know well the benefits to be gained from the practice of meditation.
