In 2008 the threat of Peter Buck Michael Stipe to was clear. "O back to the guitars or I'm out ". Months later came the market's best record REM in a decade, Accelerate . recovered pulse, inspiration and returned to sound like a live band. Not only had a couple of excellent singles (all their albums do) but the album as a whole left a good taste in mouth, something rare in recent years, induced to return to hear more than a couple of times. Do not reached at the height of his best work but for their fans was a relief. There was still hope.
Now comes the second episode of the comeback. Collapse Into Now lands and many wonder if 2008 was a mirage or if on the contrary have really reconsidered and again hit the mark. My verdict is final. REM again show that, although his glory days passed, have many interesting things to offer. A celebration as it has been one of the bands that I hear in my teens. Yes, a couple of songs Flojet and something that sounds like the classic chorus house brand. But there are great songs here, which no doubt. Echoes of Fables Of The Reconstruction , New Adventures In Hi-Fi or even a patch of Up tranquiloide that but it was the beginning of the experiment more boring of the band, I think they did an album that won a lot with each listening. The voice of Michael Stipe regains nuances, the guitars of Peter Buck flood everything and bass, keyboards and choirs endemic Mike Mills give it a very pop inimitable (even groups such as Live, Counting Crows and many others I tried) that have always had.
